Sinthomosexuals who like kids? No future and the afterlives of the incest taboo
Diederik F Janssen

Lee Edelman’s notion of sinthom-osexuality can be productively complicated by its application to the pedophile, understood as the late modern, transferential face of the impossibility of incest, involving much the same figurative disidentification with the social.

Reactionary troping of child harm and community alarm has been displaced from figurations of homosexual to circumscriptions of pedophile subjectivity, as both early and contemporary authors note. This new speciation of queer raises questions on the symptomatic status of queer theory when mobilized, even where taking queeritude as fulfilling a position of structural necessity (whether or not via Lacan), around a gender-centrism that has importantly come to pass, indeed a centrism that has been diagnosed as anachronistic well before the advent of queer theory.

An approach to the engagement of lesbian players with videogames
Cristina Gozalo Martinez

To fill a gap in the literature, this project has given voice to the experiences of lesbian gamers, and has focussed on the they have when engaging with the technological system.

The engagement of the lesbians in this study with video games seemed to be greatly influenced by their sexual orientation. This could be observed, for instance, in the way they chose characters and engaged in relationships, or how they created their own interpretation of games by subverting the text with alternative readings when playing. Whenever the system allowed them to fulfil their fantasies, they attempted to modify the supplied elements of the game to create queer scenarios. Having the power to transform their game maximised these women’s sense of agency and pleasure.
